The Dance  Sponsor promotes sportsmanship and physical fitness among students. The High School Dance Sponsor supervises the dance activities, and works closely with other staff and the administration of USD 473.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinate and supervise dance activities at district, league, state, and other levels.
  2. Promote sportsmanship and physical fitness.
  3. Ensure that all dance activities conform to KSHSAA guidelines.
  4. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  5. Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations.
  6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  7. Support the value of an education.
  8. Support the mission and vision of USD 473

 

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  2. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  3. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
  4. Requires some travel.
  5. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  6. Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise all dance activities.
  2. Organize and manage the tryouts process.
  3. Ensure that all members have completed the proper registration (signed constitution, physical, and insurance forms) prior to the first performance. File all registration forms with the activities director.
  4. Organize and schedule practices and performances. Distribute a schedule of such activities to each member.
  5. Preview all skits, presentations, signs, and posters for appropriateness.
  6. Coordinate the summer camp project.
  7. Supervise the ordering, distribution, and collection of uniforms.
  8. Secure transportation to out-of-town activities.
  9. Ensure that safety precautions are observed during all activities.
  10. Make sure all members meet KSHSAA eligibility rules.
  11. See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  12. Implement discipline rules regarding demerits, benching, and terminations as
  13. specifically defined in the constitution, and keep a record of such actions.
  14. Coordinate and supervise fundraising activities.
  15. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques by attending camp, clinics, workshops, etc.
  16. Obtain advance approval from the Activities Director and Principal for all activities, practices, performances, and expenditures.
  17. Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  18. Other duties as assigned by the Activities Director, Principal, or other Administrative Staff.
